Things I Am Loving: Scarves

Okay here is the thing, I have a lot of time on my hands right now so I decided to spoil y'all with posts, but don't get use to it lol. Henceforth I will be adding a new feature on the blog called "Things I am Loving". This will be a way to let you know of the things I am currently obsessed with and how I intend to cure such craze. My current love is for all things scarves and I tell you man can't get enough. Arriving in Nigeria with a few of my hair products (Thanks to Continental baggage restriction), I was forced to rely on scarves which served a my cover up for my busted hair. Now I am hooked, can't get enough of em bad boys, and even plan to build up on my collection ASAP :). Scarves are so easy to work with, and by incorporating different styles you can look very elegant wearing them. The good news is that they serve as a great protective styling, but make sure materials used do not cause breakage to the hair. Below is a picture collage of some of the ways I wear them and hope this gives you ideas on how to have fun with your scarves. Thank you and remain blessed.

Things to Ponder: Quote of the Night.

Just wanted to bring something different apart from hair and since I love quotes this will also be a feature on the blog. Hope you all enjoy my daily doses while I share my hair journey. “For everything you have missed, you have gained something else, and for everything you gain, you lose something else.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

Current Hair Update.

In my update post I mentioned my big chop which took place in November of 2010, and now over a year later, I am glad to see how healthy and manageable my hair has become. I really do not regret doing another major big chop (5th one in over 5 year yikes)because each journey brought me closer to understanding my texture better. Anywho I digress, enough on big chops and now on to my current location which is in Nigeria YAYYYY!!! Yup yup I am in Nigeria man and my hair is having a bitter sweet relationship with the present climate. Right now it is harmattan season, which means dry and hot in the day time and cooler at nights. This change of environment of course calls for a change in hair regimen and styling. And for my hair products I have learned less is more so shea butter (unrefined) and heavy carrier oils are my staple products. My styling has changed from leaving my hair out to protecting all or some of my ends. I intend to share the styles I currently rock in Nigeria. The beauty of my hair is how versatile it is and I love it! Remain blessed y'all. PS: Below is a picture of me with my yarn braids which I did (Thanks to my luv Uju) before travelling to Nigeria.

The New Look!

Yes I did it and I hope y'all like the new do yayy ! I decided to do a complete makeover because I felt change was long over due. The new name Hair My Way symbolizes a new dimension I am trying to take on with the blog, as more emphasizes will be laid on my hair regimen and styles in respect to what works for my own hair. The aim here is to follow an individualist approach rather than a collective school of thought on how we as women of color should care and style our tresses. I hope you like the new look, and hopefully you will be able to take something from my journey and make it work for yours. Thank you and remain blessed.

Blog Update...........

Wow what has it been like over 6 months or so that I haven't blogged, and I have the nerve to call myself a blogger :(. Well the only reason I will give for my hiatus is life. I will not bore you with all the details, but rather inform you my dedicated followers that this blog will be slowly undergoing a transformation. This will take this blog from just my natural hair journey posts to just My Hair journey in achieving manageability and healthy looking hair. I say this because I will no longer lay emphasizes on me being Natural, but rather more on how I plan to play by my own rules when it comes to the upkeep of my hair. I thank all those that have stuck by me through the years and to my new followers I welcome you on this journey. Till next time remain blessed. Thank you. PS: I did a major big chop in November 2010 (Thanks to my mom who was eager to use heat on my hair and as a result I suffered major heat damage). November 2011 marked a year since the big chop and below is a picture of my hair now. I have learnt a lot this time around and I am doing things differently which I will share with you all in due time. Stay moisturized!
